Jets Corner: Praises and Scolds

What a game it was Saturday for the Jets vs the Canes. One might say that the game had many sloppy moments with a lot of bouncing pucks, and yet the game remained exciting with some big hits, big saves, and a few big goals.

Praises go out to Josh Morrissey and Jacob Trouba on good consistent defense throughout all three periods Saturday. Between the blocked shots and the overall aggressiveness, they both get CanSportsOne praise for this game.

Scold goes out to Tyler Myers who has had a couple bad games now. He has had a lot of turnovers and bad plays with the puck in the last few games. Myers really needs to focus on his fundamentals, because when he’s on his game, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Big praise goes out to Connor Hellebuyck who had a fantastic couple games since being given the start. He pulled out some big saves and looked calm and collected throughout these games. Hellebuyck looks like a different goalie from last year. If he can continue to develop and play how he did Thursday and Saturday, he may be the answer to the Jets goaltending woes.
